The Hand Piecer's Fastening Knot

With a threaded needle (no knot in the thread) take one stitch at the beginning of the seam ensuring the needle passes through the intersections of the marked lines on both sides and leave a thread "tail".
Make a backstitch through the same point, leaving a loose loop.
Thread the needle backwards through the loop, then twist the loop so the needle is pointing along the seam.
Pull through to form a fastening knot.
Tug gently to tighten the knot.
